Biography

Mr. Lech is the founder and principal of Lech Law, LLC.

During his 19 year career, Mr. Lech has not only worked in private practice but has also acted as in-house counsel.  He began his legal career at an IP boutique in Southeastern Michigan.  From 1996-1998, he was one of three in-house attorneys at Priceline, and personally prosecuted and directed the prosecution of several dozen patent applications related to various aspects of electronic commerce.

His practice currently includes:

  • Counseling clients regarding their appropriate overall IP strategy
  • Drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications
  • Drafting and prosecuting U.S. trademark applications
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating license agreements
  • Drafting right-to-use, patentability, validity, and non-infringement opinions

Prior to entering into the practice of law and while completing his legal education, Rob spent ten years working in the information technology industry as a programmer, software engineer, and systems analyst.  He worked for Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) and Comerica Bank.  He also founded a corporation to develop academic and entertainment software, writing applications for Tandy Corporation and Atari.  Mr. Lech has also taught intellectual property law, patent law, and copyright law courses at the University of Dayton School of Law.
